To celebrate the UK release of Disney’s latest magical animated comedy ‘The Princess and The Frog’, the fashion world’s new prince charming William Tempest designed a special edition dress for the star of the film Anika Noni Rose which was unveiled at a special champagne tea party and exclusive preview screening. Grammy Award nominee Anika performed a song from the film written by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman for the filmmakers and celebrity guests at London’s May Fair Hotel on Sunday 24 January.
Designer to the stars, Tempest has dressed the likes of Madonna, Victoria Beckham (recently photographed taking her sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz to see the film in LA), Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Lily Allen and Girls Aloud since graduating from London College of Fashion and worked with fellow designers Giles Deacon and Jean Charles de Castelbajac before starting his own label. The designer says “I have always been a huge fan of Disney and I am so excited to be working together to launch the new movie ‘The Princess and the Frog’. My dress is inspired by Princess Tiana, Disney’s first ever black Princess, who has been a really fun and inspirational character to design for”.
‘The Princess and The Frog’ leaped into the number one spot at the US box office and marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements who created other Disney classics such as ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Aladdin’, this is a modern twist on a classic tale with adventurous storytelling, captivating characters, offbeat comedy and memorable music. The film features a beautiful girl named Tiana, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana. Executive Producer and Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter says “‘The Princess and the Frog’ is a return to the timeless world of hand-drawn animation at Disney. It’s an ageless fairy tale, but with a fresh twist that combines everything we look for in great stories: comedy, adventure, music—and most of all, the kind of heart that always sets Disney animation apart.”
‘The Princess and the Frog’ is released nationwide on Friday 5 February.
