Jeff Gorvette is one of the greatest American racecars alive today. Donning the stars and stripes of his country’s flag, the #24 Corvette C6.R has proven his ability to succeed on the big ovals and the road courses of the Grand Touring Sports circuits. Having moved from his hometown of Vallejo, California to Indiana to be closer to the racing world, Gorvette’s ability to accelerate at such a young age has turned hoods wherever he competes. His championships and number of victories are unmatched, making him a respected competitor—and legitimate threat—at the World Grand Prix.

Darrell Cartrip is a legendary multi-Piston Cup champion turned beloved racing announcer. The Kentucky-born #17 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is known for his wild colour commentary, delighting Piston Cup fans with his humour, charisma and signature catch phrases—"Boogity, Boogity, Boogity! Let's go racin' boys!" He’s spent years on the track, in the pits and in the grease, and he’ll tell you all about it. This American Southern gentleman knows what it takes to win, and plans to bring that fervent expertise to calling the World Grand Prix.

Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car.

But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.

Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct this follow-up to his 2006 Golden Globe®-winning “Cars.” “Cars 2” is co-directed by Brad Lewis, producer of the Oscar®-winning film “Ratatouille,” and produced by visual effects industry veteran Denise Ream (associate producer, “Up”; visual effects executive producer, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”).

The film hits the track on July 22, 2011, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX® 3D in select theaters.

When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair.

Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. To celebrate the UK release of Disney’s latest magical animated comedy ‘The Princess and The Frog’, the fashion world’s new prince charming William Tempest designed a special edition dress for the star of the film Anika Noni Rose which was unveiled at a special champagne tea party and exclusive preview screening. Grammy Award nominee Anika performed a song from the film written by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman for the filmmakers and celebrity guests at London’s May Fair Hotel on Sunday 24 January.

Designer to the stars, Tempest has dressed the likes of Madonna, Victoria Beckham (recently photographed taking her sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz to see the film in LA), Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Lily Allen and Girls Aloud since graduating from London College of Fashion and worked with fellow designers Giles Deacon and Jean Charles de Castelbajac before starting his own label. The designer says “I have always been a huge fan of Disney and I am so excited to be working together to launch the new movie ‘The Princess and the Frog’. My dress is inspired by Princess Tiana, Disney’s first ever black Princess, who has been a really fun and inspirational character to design for”.

‘The Princess and The Frog’ leaped into the number one spot at the US box office and marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements who created other Disney classics such as ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Aladdin’, this is a modern twist on a classic tale with adventurous storytelling, captivating characters, offbeat comedy and memorable music. The film features a beautiful girl named Tiana, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana. Executive Producer and Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter says “‘The Princess and the Frog’ is a return to the timeless world of hand-drawn animation at Disney. It’s an ageless fairy tale, but with a fresh twist that combines everything we look for in great stories: comedy, adventure, music—and most of all, the kind of heart that always sets Disney animation apart.”

‘The Princess and the Frog’ is released nationwide on Friday 5 February.

Released just a few minutes ago are lots of brand new Alice in Wonderland concept art and film stills!

Is anyone else as excited about this movie as we are? Which character are you most looking forward to seeing?

Here is a look at the development and progression of the Cheshire Cat from the Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton new movie ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

Click the images for a larger view.

1 of 4. The iconic shot of Alice’s first meeting with the Cheshire Cat, who’s grinning at her from his tree limb, begins with what’s similar to a storyboard sketch, using an assemblage of low-resolution character stills.

2 of 4. The scene moves to animation, where the character is dropped into a low-resolution environment—the images are kept low-res to allow Imageworks’ animators to create the Cat’s performance without having a lot of data to manipulate.

3 of 4. The biggest challenge is to create a realistic cat that can generate the trademark exaggerated grin. Here, the all-important hair has been added, ensuring it behaves as it should, where it should be, with the Cat now curled on his limb.

4 of 4. Here, final lighting is added, along with a full-resolution environment behind the Cat, including the flora and atmosphere added for visual effect.

Toy Story 2 3-D hits the palace of dreams, I mean cinema, this week so we can relive the beauty of Pixar’s first ever sequel but in the three dimensions.

The fact that it has been stunningly re-mastered in 3-D is the cherry on top with hundreds and thousands sprinkled over plus chocolate sauce slowly dripping onto crispy wafers that sit aloft of the creamiest of ice creams.

This isn’t just Toy Story 2, This is Toy Story 2 in 3-D!

Right enough of all that ice cream talk before my keyboard floats away in salvia.

Being a movie set in the US of A, I suppose it’s understandable that a lot of the toys that the characters are supposedly based on were more recognisable to American kids rather than British (back then anyway).

Personally speaking, Thomas the Tank Engine WAS (capitalised to save my little social standing left) always a firm staple in my daily routine of playtime but as mentioned above the train may not have appealed to the American audience at the time. Thomas would have been the perfect toy to help Andy's gang of play things to travel around, though I can't help but think his often nauseously kind-heartedness would have annoyed the likes of witty Hamm somewhat.

Anyway enough about me, this is where you come in.

Which toy from your childhood would you have liked to have seen made an appearance in Toy Story? And what personality do you think the geniuses at Disney Pixar would have given them?

Get imagining!
