After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home, hoping their MOTHER (Rebecca De Mornay) can provide them with a getaway. The youngest brother, JOHNNY (Matt O’Leary), has been shot and their back-stabbing former partner has gotten away with all the cash.
But when the brothers get home, they find that all their stuff is gone and Mother is nowhere to be found: she lost the house months ago in a foreclosure. The new owners, BETH and DANIEL SOHAPI (Jaime King and Frank Grillo) and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers' unwitting hostages.
Not long after, Mother arrives, along with the boys’ sister LYDIA (Deborah Ann Woll), and it soon becomes clear that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening, she brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons' escape from the law.
Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the hostages struggle to make it through the night alive.

25 years later and to mark the Anniversary of its release, the film was shown in the exact same location to a packed and excited cinema audience. It was as if many were experiencing Robert Zemeckis’ masterpiece for the very first time. Laughter and applause rang out during memorable scenes and killer one-liners. It was truly a time to reminisce about a film that stands the test of time better than any.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past two and a bit decades, you will know the story already. Here’s a quick reminder anyway: Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), a young teenager who befriends a rather wacky scientist, Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown (Christopher Lloyd), who invents a time machine.
However, during the testing of the DeLorean DMC-12 time machine and a confrontation with terrorists, Marty is accidentally sent back in time from 1985 to 1955. Here he meets his parents and causes all kinds of trouble, inadvertently attracting his mother's romantic interest away from his father! Marty must now find a way of getting his parents to fall in love and find a way back to 1985 with the help of a young 1955 Doc!
Yesterdays screening wasn’t just a “re-run” of an old worn-out print of the film, but in fact a digitally re-mastered copy. The video quality was amazing, Universal have done a magnificent job of restoring a film that is a quarter of a century old. In fact, it looks like it was film yesterday.
There is always that fine line between over processing old films, where the nostalgic quality is completely diminished but thankful Back to the Future is here in all it’s high definition glory.
Sound is equally impressive with the classic theme and Huey Lewis and the News’ “The Power of Love” and "Back in Time" tracks bringing joy to your ear canals. Not to mention the noise of the DeLorean hitting 88 miles per hour and travelling back or forward in time.
Set to hit UK screens October 1st 2010, I urge you to do whatever it takes to find a cinema that is showing Back to the Future, you won’t be disappointed! Don’t forget the trilogy is also coming out on Blu-Ray too!
